In an exhilarating display of skill and determination, Swiss skier Camille Rast clinched her second World Cup victory of the season at the night slalom in Flachau, Austria. Rast, who was trailing after the first run, delivered a stunning second run to secure the win, finishing ahead of her compatriot Wendy Holdener by a mere 0.16 seconds. This victory not only marked a significant milestone for Rast but also highlighted the strength of the Swiss team, with Holdener taking second place and Sweden’s Sara Hector completing the podium in third.
The race was filled with drama as Austrian skier Katharina Liensberger, who led after the first run, made several errors in her second run, ultimately finishing just off the podium in fourth place.
The absence of slalom stars Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova, both sidelined due to injuries, opened the door for new talents to shine, and Rast seized the opportunity with both hands.
