In the thrilling downhill race at Kitzbühel on January 25, 2025, Canadian skier James Crawford secured his first World Cup victory with a time of 1:53.64. He was closely followed by Switzerland’s Alexis Monney, who finished just 0.08 seconds behind, claiming the second spot on the podium. Another Canadian, Cameron Alexander, completed the top three, finishing 0.22 seconds behind Crawford. This podium mirrored the 85th Hahnenkamm race, where Canadian skiers also dominated the top positions.

The race went smoothly overall, with only one major interruption: Czech skier Jan Zabystran’s (title pic) run had to be stopped after a fall. In an unusual turn of events, he was transported back to the start by helicopter to take a second start after the course was cleared. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
